Guard provides a theatrical component to marching band in the fall and an opportunity for more individualized “ensemble recital” in the spring through winter guard performances and competitions. This
program can be compared to theater with its use of dramatic, musical, and dance elements. Instruction is given in dance, ballet, and weapon/prop use (tall and short flags, swing flags, rifles, sabers, along with a variety of other props). Color / Winter Guard members participate in football games, parades, band reviews, field shows, color guard shows and other outside activities associated with band. Attendance at all after school rehearsals and performances is required. The Color Guard is part of the Marching Band.

This is a Level IV-V high school instrumental music class. Students must audition to be enrolled in this class. Wind Ensemble provides the opportunity to develop an understanding and appreciation of music through performance. This band performs for school and community events throughout the year. They also participate at local, regional, and state music contests. Students selected for Wind Ensemble show an above-average understanding of their instrument and display a high level of musical sophistication as demonstrated through their performance. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student's grade. This band participates at local and regional band contests and festivals, and is also part of the Marching Band which performs at all LHS football games.

This is a Level III high school instrumental music class. Students must audition to be enrolled in this class. This band is a training group to prepare students with skills necessary to participate in Wind Ensemble. Literature is geared to the members' abilities with emphasis being placed on improvement of tone quality and technical proficiency. There are opportunities for students to excel in this band and move into Wind Ensemble. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student's grade. This band participates at local and regional band contests and festivals, and is also part of the Marching Band which performs at all football games.
